Always the best intentions

I started off this year with the best intentions of blogging more detail about my personal projects.

Well that didn’t go according to plan. Looking at my previous post dated 15th April and the lack of posts since then means that I failed. 2020 has been a crap year with COVID and the impact on people’s lives. I had grand ideas on things that I wanted to do and get done, and none of them happened.

It has been a very busy year for me though. There have been a lot of changes this year

With my work, I have a new role. We had a massive restructure at my work and we went from a large infrastructure team to a small ‘cloud based’ specialist team. As a result I’m now a CloudOps Engineer which seems to be a fancy way of saying that I manage cloud services and on-prem infrastructure services. I’ve also been studying and learning all about kubernetes as part of my new role and I’ve already spun up some clusters and migrated some existing applications to this new platform. It has brought me back to using the commandline for all my tasks rather than ‘clicky-clicky’ with the mouse.

As for personal projects, I’m hoping that now my work role is a bit more structured and not as demanding on my personal time, I can finally have some time to focus on some personal projects and hobby things. :)
