Movie Monsters is a computer game set in the early days of movies and cinema – where cheesy B-grade horror and disaster movies with their ‘special’ effects.
This particular movie is about a monster and a city, however instead of playing the ‘good guy’, you get to play the monster.
How would you play your monster? Do you cause lots of destruction and chaos, or are you just wanting a bite to eat? Do you just want to find a friendly person to hug? It isn’t going to be easy when you have the whole city against you!
Only you can decide your monster’s fate.
I’ve been tinkering with creating a Movie Monsters game now for a few years now. There has been many false starts, from switching between game engines and programing languages, to designing the look (2D or 3D) trying to find the right one to use. At the moment the current iteration of Movie Monsters is using the LÖVE framework (www.love2d.org) using lua.
The current version of Movie Monster is hosted on it’s Github Repository where you can download the latest prototype.
I don’t have much information on game at this stage as it is still in very early design and limited scope development.
There are no deadlines, or schedules as to when it is finished. It will be done when it is done.
